“Site is home to me.” So says Parul Gupta, the artist responsible for Notes on Movement, a site-specific work featured in SPLINTER PUNCTURE SLIVER SPALL, curated by Phalguni Guliani and co-presented with Nature Morte. Across late August, TRI was fortunate to host Parul in Kolkata while she created Notes on Movement. Combining sculpture, drawing, and painting, the artist engaged in what she describes as both a dance and a discourse with the space and the work.

In celebration of the lifespan of Notes on Movement, Parul returns to Kolkata to continue the conversation and extend her act of creation — this time with the TRI community. Here, audiences play with perception as we explore the lineage of location as material while learning from Parul as she discusses and demonstrates the role of site-specific work in her artistic practice.
