A collage-making and creative writing workshop exploring the city’s aesthetic evolution to shape modern-day messages.
In collaboration with Kolkata Houses and the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Kolkata, Pasting & Posting the City is a hands-on workshop exploring urban aesthetics through collage and creative writing. Drawing inspiration from historical postcards and contemporary social media posts, the workshop investigates how visual and textual forms communicate across time, connecting past and present urban narratives.
Participants will work with archival photographs from Kolkata Houses and colonial-era advertisements from the Centre for Studies in Social Sciences, Kolkata, collection to create “posts” that reflect the city’s layered complexity. By pairing images with short-form writing, this workshop highlights the tactile, analog origins of contemporary communication and encourages reflection on how urban spaces and messages evolve over time.
