A hands-on cyanotype workshop rooted in material-making and image play to create personal botanical impressions in indigo with Karan Suri Talwar and Iti Agarwal.
Cyanotype is one of the oldest photographic printing processes, first used in 1842 to reproduce plants, documents, and plans. Known for its oceanic blue and celestial white hues, this camera-free technique captures impressions of the world in mesmerizing detail.
Inspired by the theme of A Wildflower Garden, TRI Art & Culture’s monsoon viewing room, Blossoms in Blue invites you to explore cyanotype as both history and experiment. Led by curator Karan Suri Talwar of Harkat Studios and artist Iti Agarwal, the workshop introduces participants to the origins of cyanotype while offering hands-on experience in its contemporary creative applications.
Working with botanical materials, participants will experiment with light, composition, and exposure to create their own series of unique indigo prints. Each print becomes a personal keepsake — an impression of the season to take home. The session concludes with a group review and informal showcase, highlighting the individuality of each participant’s process.
